What is Back-up Care?

Back-up Care is a unique childcare offering available to Walt Disney World Cast Members. Back-up Care is just-in-time care offered when your child's regular care is not available. For example, you might use Back-up Care when: -Your regular caregiver is ill or on vacation
-Your child's school or regular childcare facility is closed for a holiday
-You have a change in your work shift and need temporary care until you make new arrangements
-Your child needs care for the weeks between school and other summer camps

How does Back-up Care work?

Back-up Care is an alternative to Primary Care. Once enrolled in Primary Care, you are ineligible for special Back-up Care rates. However, if space is available, you can schedule last-minute care at the market rate.

-Pre-enrolling your child for Back-up Care is free and helps you access this service more quickly and easily when you need it.

-To schedule Back-up Care for your child, call your Family Center during operating hours, from 6:00a.m. to 11:00p.m. If you need to call after hours for care the next day, a Family Center staff member will call you back the following morning.

-If your child is enrolled, and space is available, you can bring your child to the Family Center for Back-up Care at the last minute.

-Once you have reserved a space for back-up care, you will be are responsible for paying the daily rate unless your reservation is cancelled at least 24 hours in advance.

-Back-up Care can be used up to 15 days per year at the introductory rate.

-Once you have reached your 15-day limit, you can request to be placed on the Back-up Reserve Waitlist. A staff member will contact you to let you know if there is space available in your child's age group the day that you need care. You then will be charged the Market Rate.
